WordPress vs Weebly, Which one is better

WordPress vs Weebly, Which one is better

Welcome to WPBeginner and thank you for watching.
In today’s video, we’ll compare WordPress to Weebly. If you’re looking at creating a website and
trying to decide between using WordPress or Weebly, then this might help to compare the
two. WordPress currently powers about 23% of all
websites on the internet and Weebly is another solution that lets you build a site, blog,
ecommerce store and more. Note this article covers the difference between
a self hosted WordPress site and Weebly not the WordPress hosted solution. First Weebly is a hosted platform which means
your website is on their server and you have to abide by their terms of service. The migration
process is also pretty difficult as well. Conversely WordPress is an open source software
that you can install on your own server. You own 100% of all the content. With this comparison WordPress is clearly the winner. The next section are features and plugins Weebly comes with a good selection of tools
built in to their platform. Things like an online store, blog, contact form, photos and
more. And the best part is they are already installed, and you don’t have to install anything yourself. But if there is something that you want added
that isn’t on their list, then you can’t just hire someone to add it for you. They simply
aren’t allowed on the platform. Conversely, on WordPress you’ll have to install
all the plugins yourself to extend the WordPress functionality, but you aren’t limited to anything.
And there are over 37,000 plugins to choose from. WordPress wins this comparison as well. Next up is design and layout choices Weebly excels at the design and most desired
feature is their ability to use their drag and drop page builder to create a website. This
makes it very easy for a beginner to get the exact look for their site. Although WordPress is not drag and drop by
default, there are some premium themes like headway themes and themify which do have drag
and drop. The winner for this is Weebly. Next we have ecommerce and business Weebly allows you to create your own store,
but their features are basic and not much you can do to customize. They also charge
a 3% transaction fee on top of the payment processors transaction fees. you can upgrade
to their $25/month business plan to remove this fee. WordPress has several ecommerce plugins that
allow you to create your own store and there are no additional transactions fees to pay. The winner in this section is WordPress. And finally data portability. Its your data so how difficult are these two
sites in letting you take your data wherever you go. Weebly lets you download your site
as a zip file, but that’s the html and images. If you have a blog or sliders, then that content
is not exported and it’s very difficult to move your content from Weebly. With WordPress, you can export all your content
and data easily as an XML file and migrate the data to any other platform. WordPress wins this category as well. Our conclusion is Weebly is a beautiful service
more suitable for small websites, but not really ideal solution for a blog or an online store. If you like this video click on the like button and go ahead and leave us a comment there, we’d love to hear from you. And subscribe to our YouTube channel to get the latest videos.

  1. The narrator is speaking too quickly and does not pause at appropriate places to allow the listener to absorb what was just spoken. This is easily understood to be the end result of a generation that wants everything and they want it now.
