UNIQLO & Carter’s: 2016 Demandware Commerce Pacesetter Winners

The pacesetter awards honor excellence in
retail amongst Demandware clients. It’s about changing clothes and changing
conventional wisdom. Changing the status quo and ultimately changing
the world. We had about four months really to deliver
not only the ecommerce sites with the new payment solutions, but as well as a new warehouse
delivery into 17 different markets. Being a cloud based solution it allowed us
not to have to deal with infrastructure or servers and really focus on client facing
processes. We had stores in three markets in continental
Europe, now we ship to 17 countries. More importantly, in the markets where we
had stores, it begins to connect the channels. Because I believe the future of retail is
not how many stores you build, but how many customers you serve. Well the Carters and OshKosh brands have a
long history, ecommerce for Carters does not. We had a lofty goal at that time to become
the best online destination for baby and young children’s apparel, and have an ecommerce
presence that would match our iconic brands. With Demandware you’re not only able to
leverage an out-of-the-box reference application that gave us a head start, we were also able
to customize that site to our unique brands. I love this chart. It shows the plan and then our growth against
the plan. This kind of growth does come with a little
bit of luck, but it also comes with its challenges and opportunities. With our foundation strong and tested were
not ready to move forward with initiatives that will really help us achieving our goal
to be the world’s best online retailer for children’s apparel.
