Shopify Dropshipping Workshop – Beginners | AWasia 2017


How’s everyone feeling this morning? Welcome to the first world — the first day
of Affiliate World Asia. My name is Katy Hudson and I’m an affiliate manager at
Shopify, I’m thrilled to be here and I’m joined on stage today
with a Shopify partner, Mo. Welcome everyone my name is Muhammad Ali again,
Mo for short and I’m Shopify partner as well as multiple ecommerce business
owner and I’m thrilled to be here today, and today we are going to talk about
e-commerce dropshipping Shopify and how you can get started, so let’s start by
finding the goal of a ecommerce business, so to come down, a goal of an
ecommerce business is pretty much finding the right product and presenting it to
the right people at the right time, now my case I always been good at finding
the right products and driving traffic to show those right products to the
right people, the problem was always and the challenge was finding the right
platform to sell, trust me I have been through like 15 platforms before I found
Shopify and that’s where the whole Shopify story started for me, so for
those of you who may be not familiar with Shopify as a company or as a brand
or even as a platform, I want to provide a little bit of context so I’d like to
tell the story of Shopify and I like to call it a little bit of a love story, so
it involves a man by the name of Toby who came to Canada and fell in love with
a Canadian girl, decided to stay and start a family and like any good
Canadian, he fell in love with snowboarding and after a few years, he
had some friends that he decided to start an online business to sell
snowboards and they thought that the easiest part of the whole starting a
business and starting an online store was going to be finding a platform to
sell online and unfortunately, that was actually the biggest headache of the
whole process, this was about ten years ago and at the
time ecommerce was really only reserved for people or companies who were willing
and able to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into e-commerce
infrastructure and even then the platform’s were clunky, they were
fragmented and they just didn’t sync very well together so he decided to take
this into his own hands and he’s a computer programmer by trade so he
decided to build his own store and as he was building it, he came to sort of a
fork in the road and he realised that he was onto something and he thought about
it and said well, I can either can start to build my own store and to continue
with Snow Devil, which is the name of the first Shopify store or I can choose to
build a platform and help other small to medium-sized businesses do the same
thing that I’m trying to do and build their businesses online and help to
create a platform that’s more accessible to people who don’t have hundreds of
thousands of dollars to invest online and to help build more merchants around
the world. so what we’re really proud about is that Shopify is an ecommerce
platform built by an entrepreneur for entrepreneurs and our core mission is to
constantly make commerce better for everyone. so that’s the story of Shopify.
So really, Shopify as a whole as a platform is that it can take less than
30 minutes to set up a store and we’re gonna do that today, so if you do have
your laptop have it prepared because we’re going to be moving into into a
demonstration of it shortly but the great thing about Shopify is that it’s
easy to use, it’s easy to set up if you’ve ever used something like a
WordPress platform or something similar the back end is very similar so if
you’ve ever sent an email then you can definitely know how to work a platform,
how to set up your products and we have one of the best ecosystems I think in
the world, so it’s supported by apps, it’s supported by themes and these partners
invest into our ecosystem to help make your businesses better to help allow you
to sell and grow your company and so we’ll talk a little bit about this as
well, in a few minutes our platform is also very safe and secure we meet all
six categories of the PCI compliance so we take care of all the technologies, so you can really focus on what you do best and
what you love best, which is your product your services and your business, you
don’t have to worry about hosting, hosting is included Shopify is a SAS
platform, so we have ninety eight nine point nine eight uptime for hosting,
so it’s not something that you need to worry about as a business owner and
finally, the best part of Shopify is that you don’t need to know how to program,
you don’t need to know how to code, you can completely have the power of your
business in your own hands not have to worry about having a development team,
not wearing have to hire anyone to help you build your store, you can do this
yourself and we’re going to show you how and one thing that I also want to
mention about Shopify is that support team, they have the best dance support
team on all the services online that I have used and I have been online for
over 10 years now, when starting an e-commerce business one of the easiest
way to start is dropshipping as Katie mentioned three, four years ago you still
need a lot of money not only for the infrastructure but also for your for
your inventory, but with dropshipping basically you skip all that and you save
all your money that you wanted to invest in to dropshipping and invested into
pretty much marketing, so what is drop shipping and how it works basically,
let’s say something that you have a product that you’re selling for $50-60
on your website and you can acquire it from your supplier for $15, so instead of
you getting all the inventory from your supplier as the traditional e-commerce
works and then ship it to the customer basically you cut the middleman and then
your supplier directly ships to your customer at your inventory price, so you
sell for 50 you pay your suppliers 15 or 20, he ships directly and you keep the
$45 – obviously your cost of acquisition in your pocket and that’s pretty much
the easiest way on how to start an e-commerce business today and that’s
what we will show you today and that’s what the demo is all about, now one of
the best ways and the easiest ways to automate your e-commerce business on
Shopify is using an app called or below it pretty much automates about 95% of
all the heavy lifting when it comes to e-commerce and doing drop shipping on
Shopify, and I think Shopify today has a little
gift for you, so if you can all take out your laptops
we’re going to start the demo and so if you head on to shopify.com/affiliateworld
normally the Shopify trial consists of 14 days but with this
offer for affiliate world we’ve extended it to 21 and offered a 10% discount for
your first year so as you can see from the website, if you’re connected to the
Wi-Fi and you can head on to Shopify dot com slash Affiliate World and we will
get started, all righty so this is the main page this
is a special page that we have for Affiliate World as I mentioned, so
whenever you come to the Shopify page you can either enter your email in this
box here or as well in the top right hand corner, so once you do you’re gonna
get a dialog box that looks something like this so at the top, we have a spot
for an email address, we have a password and then your store name so for this
demo I’m just gonna use my email, the password is a password that you want to
create for your store so this is not a password for your email or anything else,
this is the password that you would actually log into your Shopify store so
for this I’m just gonna create an arbitrary password and first–or name
and this is what you’re gonna be naming your store but try not to stress too
much about this in case you think of an idea and perhaps that’s already taken or
you can’t think of anything right now that’s totally fine, this is something
that you can change later with your domain so once you apply your domain to
your store this would override your store name, every Shopify store comes as
the Shopify store, myshopify.com but once you replace it with a domain, it
could be Katie’s online store.com for example, so for this case let’s just call
it affiliate world test and depending how many tests I’ve done will do that
still thinking, all righty we’re gonna wait because the
Wi-Fi is always a good time, give it a minute or two, so once that loads good times always
with the Wi-Fi at different events, so once that loads you’re gonna get a
dialog box that will ask you to tell some information about yourself, it’s fine
it’s connected, oh yes you’re right connected to my hotel Wi-Fi instead of
the event Wi-Fi, there we go,
so again, yep we start again, so wait for that to load but once you
start your store, what you’re gonna get is a dialog box that says tell me a
little bit about more about yourself, if you’re able to enter those fields
they’re really helpful for us to send you more resources once you get started,
and they’re custom-made for you so for example, it’ll ask you have you thought
of a product to sell maybe you don’t know yet,
are you already making money online so it’s trying to understand who you are as
a person, to understand what kind of content to be sending your way after
that, you’re gonna be asked for your address, so make sure you input your
address, your name and your telephone number, this is important to understand
where you are located in the world, which will help when you’re installing your
payment gateways for example or setting up your shipping, which we’ll talk a
little bit about as well so this is the basic homepage that you see when you log
into your Shopify store, so we call this our main home admin and it will have
when you start some prompts for to help you get started with your store as you
start, to set up your store and start running your business, it actually will
showcase the number of orders that you’ve had that day, how many people are
on your website and as well give you stats and also suggestions for content
so Shopify is becoming smarter each day and trying to understand your business,
and how to help you grow and scale even more it’ll also have a nice message and
welcome you, so it’ll say good morning or good evening with your name, which is
pretty nice, so on the left hand side you can see that we have our basic
navigation, and so we have our main home screen there’s an order section, so this
is where you can manage all of your orders and eventually fulfil them, you
have your product section, so you can add all of your products, organise them
organise them into collections for example, which we’ll talk about as well,
you have your customers section, which is where you can see all of your active
customers, all of their information, you can organize them as well and then we
have the analytics section, so in your analytics you can see you know all of
your reporting, your average order value how much you selling,
what are your most popular products, where your sales are coming
from, so it will tell you if you know they’re being sent from Instagram or
Facebook or direct organic search, so help you provide more context, you can
also integrate Google Analytics into your Shopify store as well, to get even a
deeper understanding of your store and then next, we have a section for
discounts so for any campaigns that you’re running perhaps, you know we just
had Black Friday, Cyber Monday in North America, so maybe you want to offer
special discounts so you can set up, you know, who’s actually eligible for that
discount, what the discount is, how many customers it might apply to, so you can
really set and control the discounts that you may or may not want to offer
for your store and then next we have the app section, so much like your Android or
iPhone device we have an app store there’s over a thousand different apps,
some of them are free and some of them are paid and really, the apps do
exactly what they do on your phone, in that they help extend the functionality
of your platform, so in this case it helps to extend the functionality of
your ecommerce store so for example some of you might be familiar with the
company MailChimp, if you want to send email marketing, so MailChimp is one of
our most popular apps on the Shopify app store so you can use this app to create
email campaigns or perhaps, you want to have live chat installed on your website
or have accounting apps installed, customer support, shipping apps there’s
so many different options, one of those apps that we’re going to be eventually
talking about is a dropshipping app to help you run and scale your store, and
then finally you can see that there’s a sales channel section and currently we
only have the online sales section and so well so what there’s category or what
this section is is really helping you to control the different ways that you can
sell, so the online store is just one way, you can also sell through social media,
like Facebook and Instagram or sorry Facebook and Pinterest and
you can also sell through physical channels, so perhaps you might have a
store in the real world where you want to take payments or perhaps you’re at a
special fair or even a conference, we have a POS device that syncs perfectly
with your online store, so you can help control your inventory and so once you
click on the online store the first section is that we actually have the
themes, so again much like our app store, we have a theme store and our theme
store consists of approximately about a hundred different themes all of which
are responsive meaning that they are mobile e optimized so your customers can
view your website on any device that they’re on and they’ll have the most
optimal experience, so whether they’re viewing it on a laptop, a desktop, a
tablet or a mobile device, they’ll be able to view your store in the best way,
so what we’re gonna do is, I’m gonna quickly showcase the theme store for you
and we’re gonna select a theme for this store, so if you’re following along, you
can follow along with this as well, so if we head on over to the theme store
hopefully the the Wi-Fi isn’t too long, so this is what our theme store looks
like and what’s really unique is that our theme store is organised in a couple
of different ways, so you can see here that we have the collections section so
you can see what themes are trending this week, you can see the different
styles of themes, so perhaps you want more of a grid layout, there’s a
minimalist or fun or lively, we even have themes that are perhaps great for large
inventories or even small inventories, so these themes are designed in a specific
way to help you sell more we also have a section for industries, so perhaps you
want to browse themes based on what kind of business you want to run, so maybe
you’re selling apparel or maybe you’re selling jewellery or even home-and-garden
or health and beauty, there are different themes depending on what you want to be
selling and they’re strategically designed in a way to help you sell more
effectively to the customer, so for this example, let’s head on over
to you clothing and apparel, so as you can see there’s a
selection of different themes with all previews, you can see on the left hand
side here that we have different organisational tools, so we have price, so
you can see that some are free and some are paid, you can select by the number of
products the layout and the industry obviously, so if you go back to my main
theme we’re gonna choose Brooklyn, because Brooklyn is actually one of our
most popular and awesome themes that we have in the theme store, make sure it’s
going there, there we go, cool, so every time you have a theme, you
can see that it’ll tell you if it’s free or paid and there’s always usually a
couple of styles included, so you can see that it comes with a playful style or a
classic style you can see that the themes has different features and what
it includes, you can also check out different reviews, the other experiences
that Shopify merchants have had and what’s really cool is that
obviously, there’s links for support and documentation but you can actually add
the theme and view a demo of it before you actually commit, so let’s say you are
considering a theme that actually has a paid component to it you can actually
move it around and sort of check out what it would look like on your store
before actually committing to to that purchase if it was a paid theme, so for
this one what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna add this theme to our store and
we’re gonna click on publish as my theme store, so it’s going to add a theme so if you guys are
following on your laptop you can do the same, great so now we’re gonna go back into our
store and you can see here that it says we’ve successfully published Brooklyn,
and if you want to check out what that actually looks like, this is what the
basics of a Shopify store would look like obviously, without any assets
without any products uploaded but you can see that the foundation is already
there, which is really cool, cool so what we’re gonna do is I’ll show you the
elements of how to customise a theme, I’m just gonna go through and add one photo
to the home banner but this is your theme editor, which is really great and
there’s no need to know how to code, again if you do want to edit the CSS, you
are able to do that but for the standardised or the sort of the
standard Shopify merchants, if you don’t have the skills to code, it’s
totally not necessary and so what you’re able and once this loads you’ll have
different sections on the left-hand side of what shows the different elements of
your page, so the home banner image if you have a carousel image, the elements
of your top bar navigation, your bottom bar navigation, you can change the fonts
you can change the colours, you can change the the images and so as you’re building
your store and building your business, obviously there are so many resources
that you have to consider, so whether that’s products or product photography
is one of them, among others, we have actually something that is called Burst,
so Burst is an great resource that you can use from Shopify and it’s actually
integrated into our platform now that actually provides free professional
product photog — photography, period and its stock photography, which is
pretty cool, so what you would do is select an image and if you go to free
images over here and it’ll take a second to load but all of these images are also
sectioned off into different categories, so perhaps we want to check out if we’re
gonna be selling fashion and maybe we want to select this image and then we
would select it, and you can edit it and click save, and
so what would happen is that you actually now have this image uploaded on
to your store and you don’t have to worry about taking product photography
or taking lifestyle photography, we’ve kind of taken that step for you, however
with that said obviously if you have your own images then you can upload
those as well, but — sorry Burst is a fantastic resource to utilise if
you’re just getting started and want to get a store up and running quickly, awesome, so now that we have a theme
installed and you can see it’s actually even previewed on the mobile device and
and the computer we’re just gonna hop into our settings section because I just
want to go quickly over this and then I’m actually gonna pass it off to Mo to
take away the rest, so this is your general, or sorry this is your settings,
so this is where you can edit your address of where your business is
located, or where you’re located, we can talk about payments very quickly and as
well as, for example like your standard account if you want to select your
currency Mo is going to talk about the shipping element during his part, but for
the most part for example, if you’re gonna go into the general section, you
can see all of your store’s details and when you set up this store, you can
select your currency, so depending on the IP and what I added when I I made this
test store and it might be displaying Thai Baht for example, because we are in
Thailand however I’m based in Canada, so I can choose if I want to sell in
Canadian dollars or perhaps I even want to sell in US dollars now, when you’re
choosing a payment gateway for example, which is what allows you to process your
payments that are taken online there are multiple different options that you can
choose, so if you want to have the option of accepting credit cards, if you want to
accept Paypal payments for example and even in some instances, depending on
where you’re located, you might need the option of cash on delivery so depending
on your your country’s culture or customs on how you pay for goods will
depend on what you might want to set up for your store, so all of this can really
be taken into account on your Shopify store you can also set up your taxes, so
for those our good friends in the United States where they have some pretty
complex tax rules depending on where you’re living and what state you’re
selling in, this is all taken into account as well so you can choose the
taxes that are applicable to you and perhaps maybe where you want to ship and
maybe where you don’t want to ship both within your own country and
to the rest of the world, so you can see here that I added in my Toronto address
and here you can choose the different metric systems or the imperial systems
for your weight, so however you’re going to be measuring your products for
shipping and as well you can set your currency to the currency that you want
to be selling in, so by default it’s selected two Canadian dollars because I
did input my address as being in Canada all right, so if we head on back
I just want to show you one more thing so here in the payment section is where
you can enable your payment gateway so when I was doing this demo last night as
we were practicing and I selected Shopify payments which is actually
powered by Stripe so Shopify payments is currently located in Canada, the US, the
United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, and so with Shopify payments there’s
actually no transaction fees if you do use a third-party payment gateways such
as authorize.net or or any others, obviously they’re subject to the
transaction fees of the processing fees of those of those payment gateways you
can also see here that you can enable PayPal and then here in this section, you
can have alternative payments and manual payments such as cash on delivery etc, all right so we’re gonna hop back into
the app section and what we’re gonna start talking about is utilising apps as
I mentioned with our app store and one of the apps that we do have as we
started with our presentation is called Oberlo and that’s one of the most
popular dropshipping apps on our platform and it’s a great way to get
started and it’s especially validate ideas as you’re starting to build your
own e-commerce empire, let’s say and get started so I’m gonna throw it over to
you Mo and he’s gonna take away the rest. Thank you for that,
all right welcome back, so what I’m going to do is I’m just going to install Oberloa, all what you have to do is pretty much click on apps and hopefully you
have a faster internet than me so you go there a lot faster and I may
need your password love it and live events, when you have 10,000 people on
the same Wi-Fi promise you usually is not this slow, the beauty of live events is the when
this happened and I gotta stand here and look at you I crack jokes while it’s
loading, so what’s happening count maybe while we’re waiting for it to load does
anyone have any questions so far, questions about your 2-way, yeah everyone
great, alright so here is Oberlo and I’m just going to abuse that now right
now fast, fast, fast, we got to click on that and install it and so pretty much
Oberlo, it starts at zero dollar per month so you can install it and give it
a shot before you do everything else on your store like, before even you set up
your credit card and your payment gateway and all that talking about payment
gateway, correct me if I’m wrong but you do have a hold game like Shopify
does have a whole payment gateway right, so when you start selling and you don’t
set up yours, it basically holds your money until you
set up your bank account, just for everyone to know that now, while we are
getting this do we have any questions by the way while we are getting on this, yes
we have a mic? I’m stressing them because we were
planning the questions and the answers there so they were not ready, yes, sir my question,
I can’t hear you – test test okay, so my question is can I
change the language, so you have multiple languages for example on your store, you
can actually install an app like Languify, there’s actually several but Languify,
I believe is one of our most popular and so if you needed a store that had
multiple languages, so for example I live in Canada and our two official languages
are English and French so it’s something where you can translate your store back
and forth depending on what languages you require, okay is it a translation or
do I have to put all the information in every language, yeah, so with the app the
app takes care of it for you, so it’s not something that you would have to
worry about, with that said you know if you’re not doing it yourself, it might
not be 100% perfect but it works very similar on how Google Translate works
web sites across the web. Hi, I have two questions, First question is how SEO-friendly is Shopify And if you could show any case study of the organic traffic that Shopify can help you with and is the API allowing us to Create plug-ins for Shopify? Is that possible too? What is the second question, sorry? Is there any possibly of creating plug-ins for Shopify Apps, we call them apps. Right, ok so is that open-ended? Or we need to work with you? These are two questions of mine. If you want to address it through the session of if you want to address it now that’s fine. So for the sir for the SEO part, Shopify is very SEO friendly, you don’t have any case studies on me right now,
but I can show you one letter if you hit me up after the stage, that’s no problem
it’s very SEO friendly as for the apps, all what you need is to open a Shopify developer account, which is completely free and pretty much develop
your app you can use it for your own store or you can put it as another
revenue source with Shopify and become a partner and sell pretty much your
software on there, hope that answered your question.
Awesome, this one, we have the man to the rescue! Alright and this
is the beauty of live events, we’re good to go, you sure, I just need to refresh it now
that it’s on a different network, just did and yes sir, it looks like it’s
working all right, perfect, you’re missing the videos here, okay well
I guess we can do with this, so pretty much this is Oberlo and what it does
it automates about 80 to 90% of your whole business so all the adding product
part and linking the products to your supplier and sending the order supplier
all of that is automated with this app, so what’s the rest for you is some
little marketing and pretty much modifying what the shop, what the overlap
will pull out from Aliexpress, which I’m about to show you, right, so we are going
to look for a product so, for instance I’m in one of the niches that I mean is
the dog niche and what I’m going to do right now is I’m going to look for a dog
product, so let me just go with the dog collar here but, actually we have a dog
collar let’s do well, let’s stick with that and
what is going to do, is going to go to Aliexpress pretty much and fetch all the
dog collars products or all the dog collar products that have the dog collar
keywords on Aliexpress and all what you have to do is select which products you
want to add, so I’m just going to select let’s say this one and that’s the leash
or let’s add the leash, why not as an upsell, so I added those two products to
the import list now after that it will take one click to add them to the
Shopify store, I will show you that but what I want to mention is this thing
here so this is called Oberlo Supply and what it does and not a lot of people
are utilising that it’s pretty much an express supplier that has been vouched
for tested through bottles to ship fast, they are people, like their
businesses to do good business with and they’re trustworthy, so that saves you
kind some time of testing suppliers and all that and you can just fire them by
clicking go and Oberlo Supply and they’re all here, so if they have one
product or a product that you guys are interested in anyone to sell is pretty
much you go through this process and as I said those are supplies that that are
trustworthy and have been budgeted for also if you want to look to for supplies
by category or products package by categories, all what you have to do is
pretty much come in here and select the category that you want to sell for and
let’s do it for products, so you have more choices and it will show you all
the products in that category, so let’s go, what is this office and school
supplies and pretty much it will search all that, so those are the office I guess
you can have little hearts in your office, right there and flamingos, so let
me go to the import list here and show you how to add those products to your
store, now one thing about these products is they come with the Aliexpress default
description and title and all that and I highly recommend you change all of that
because there are two things that you want to focus on when we’re doing this,
part number one is conversion rate optimisation basically, right and
compelling copy to sell, number two is SEO so you want your keywords to be in
there and you want something that converts, if we look at the
description in here so you can see here the description is pretty much just
features from Aliexpress the type of product the pattern what it is etc,
and you want to modify that as well as your title in here and that’s super
easy to do, so your title let’s say let’s do, what you’re going to do, what is this
this is a leash, so if we do a limited edition dog running leash and by the way we’d see a lot of typos, I’m really bad at
typing, here we go and then if I don’t know – you
didn’t set up any collections? We didn’t set up any collections yet on
the store, alright so if we did set up a collection, and I will show you
to set up a collection is all your collections will appear in that menu and
let’s say you do general store dogs, cats, turtles and hamsters and you
want to add this to the dog collection, so all what you have to do is hit
collection and here it will appear as dogs and you just select that the type
of product, it really does not matter much but if you want to type your type
of products you can do that so in this case, I’m just going to do dogs and the
tags are for we can use them for a lot of things, we can use them for
SEO as well, we can use them for other apps and we will talk more about that
tomorrow and the marketing workshop and the Shopify marketing workshop, I should
say so the tags, let’s tag this as dogs and that’s pretty much it,
now in the description and this is where your copy-writing code to code skills
comes in, what you want to do honestly with the description is keep it
compelling and instead of doing the features, you do the benefits, so you
really want to sell your products based on benefits, so instead of doing like
type dog patterns solid and feature “breakaway, quick release”
you want to write down how that will benefit to the buyer, how that
will help the buyer with whatever problem they are solving with, this
product so in this case basically, I am guessing the Avatar or the person who
will buy this product is someone very active, who goes jogging and take the dog
with them so that’s what you want to write about and we are going to type in
a super super fast description in here, I’m not going to dive into copywriting
today, so we’re going to do are you dog lover? Then this product is a
must-have, and then basically what we want to do is to do benefit one, benefit two,
benefit three, beneift four and then we do another sentence in here more
about the clothing and the product, more description and what’s made off, etc. We
do the features and then pretty much we tell them about the price that we can
change in, we can change the price on this one, here we go, in the variance
right there, okay, so this products come with three variants, right we can choose
everyone to sell one, two or all of them, so that’s super easy to do, all what you
have is two and check and check what you want to sell, so in this instance I just
want to sell the blue and red because I guess I like blue and red, and you can
change the prices right here, so your cost is $6.34 basically, we want to count
whatever you are going to spend to acquire a customer you Shopify cost your
apps cost and your profit margin, add to that, so for something like this I would
just put $20 for the sake of the example and we are going to and
we are going to compare it to $15 and here we go, there it is for the images,
you can choose how many images you want to put on your on each variant, like
when you select each variant how many images you want to appear, I highly
suggest like for the sake of CRO stick to white background images, they
convert really well and that’s that’s what I’m doing on my stores and that’s
what have been converting for me, really well so you can select or
deselect all the images that you don’t want, so basically we don’t have a black
one so I’m just going to dislike that and we have all of those guys here
selected, so and we can pretty much in here, either we can override all of this
if you want to upload our images or we can just push it to the shop, so what I’m
going to do is I’m going to push this to the shop and which the second product and then it will be pretty much in my store and here
it is, if it loads please let’s jump from there, this is our store and I believe we like did we lose
Internet, it did not push my products, here we go and this is how it will
appear in your store, pretty much what this is not the one that I set up, okay that’s, Oberlo is overriding the
other store, Oberlo is overriding the other store, which is great all right
suppose, they let’s say we set this up so this is how your product is set up,
pretty much which it should show the description that I just wrote but
apparently we had two stores open here and with all the internet stuff, it did
not work as it should, so let me just redo that in case you make that mistake
basically, just you can go to Shopify and the products here, click on all
products it will show, it will your let’s do it in here, let me not save so if you
made any mistakes, while writing your product description or title or you want
to change the images or any of that all what you have to do is go to products
and hopefully again, you have a faster internet than me, here we go and those
are your products in here and basically you select your product and it will go
inside and you can change everything in here, dog lovers, one, two, three more text, there we go then perfect and in the product section
and here you can set up your search engine preview, for people who ask me
about search engine you can pretty much edit your page title and the Meta Description in here and your URL handle
for SEO as well as you can change all your alt images and all that within your
your images in here, it is the alt text that you can edit and that’s save alright, so other than that that is one
thing that I also want to show you, it’s super important and I have
seen people who own show 5 stores doing that wrong so you guys gonna do
that right and it’s under the settings, which is the shipping you know, when you
set up different chippings please don’t name them shipping one, shipping two,
heavy shipping and all that because your buyers will see that and you want to
name it something compelling, something that people will basically want to pay
for, especially if you’re charging for shipping so something like free, what
fast shipping, if you’re doing fast shipping or private or shipping you want
to add secure shipping, if you’re doing like FedEx, USPS, DHL and all that and
play with with your conversion rate optimisation there and use some NLP and
some copy-writing in that, so let me edit these zones that we already did but
actually, let me delete this and re-do it one thing is if you’re on set up a
shipping zone, people from that shipping zone that you did not set up, cannot buy
from it, so for this instance if I delete the rest of the world, you will see I can
only buy from Thailand, so if someone comes from the US or Canada or UK or
whatever other than Thailand in the world, they cannot buy because it only
shows Thailand, so that’s super important if you are marketing if you’re doing
let’s say Facebook ads to Canada and you only have the United States set up as
shipping, you cannot ship to Canada like a Canadian cannot buy from
you and I made that mistake before so please don’t do it and then I was
wondering why my ads are not working, it happens to the best of us so I’m going
to add the shipping zone here and I’m going to choose a country if it allows me I love the Internet, it’s loading, alright
okay, so the zone name is something for you to know your customers will not see,
so you can name it let’s say we’ll do North America and you can add one or
multiple countries in here so basically, I want to add the United States and I
want to add Canada, alright so for your prices you can set them either on the
product prices or the product weight so you can do like the type of promotion,
where you can offer free shipping for over $50 or you can set up your shipping settings based on weight and then based on the weight,
basically you set up your product weights and you set up your shipping
weight and then you play with that, you do a little math and if someone
basically buys one product, let’s say you set all your products to one kilogram, if
someone set up by is like one product is 1 kilogram if they buy two products is 2
kilogram and you set up your shipping your shipping settings based on
kilograms and then you know if they buy one, you charge them let’s say 4.95 if
they buy two you charge them 6.95 instead of almost 10 bucks so instead of 4.95
times 2 so you offer them shipping discount based on the weight, so for the
sake of this example we’re going to just set it up on based on rate and this is
the part your customers will see like they will see the name of ship, the name
of the shipping label that you are about to enter here, so basically instead of
typing like I can type in here, this is what I have seen a real world so I have
seen like heavy one, so basically there says setting up shipping for them to see
and what you really want to do is name it something like fast, secured shipping
that’s about right and then let’s charge 4.95 for it or actually here is what you
charge for it 4.95 and if you’re offering free shipping let’s say 50 plus I will
show you how to do that in a bit but okay so everyone who is buying from
one dollar – $49.99 is going to be 4.95 doesn’t matter what they buys like one
product at 49.95 or 30 dollars or they buy two products
at 20 each so the total is forty they’re going to pay for 95 and
if everything the over 50 I want to offer free shipping, all what I have to
do is name free secure fast shipping and then basically $50 plus and in here you
set up free shipping, so in this case whoever comes to your store basically if
they buy over $50 it’s free shipping, if they buy less than $50 it’s 4.95, it
doesn’t matter how many products they buy as long as it’s less than 50 you are
going to charge them, if you wanted to play based on the numbers of products
basically, you can do it in here with the weight based rates or there are apps that
facilitate this part like shop by partner apps that you can install and
basically, you can play with the shipping as much as you want, then you customise
all of it the analytics in here is your friend and let me know one important
thing you need to save and it’s all saved, all right perfect
before I get to another text, let me go to discounts in here
and we all we all marketers, I’m guessing here and you know the power of discounts
and we just walked off Black Friday and Cyber Monday and discounts are a super
huge benefit that you can use in your marketing and they convert really really
really well, so how to set up a discount on Shopify is really super easy
all what you have to do is go to discounts, click on create discount and
it will load in about three seconds normally, there we go, so you name your
coupon code in here or discount code and let’s say we want to name it 15 off
we’re giving we’re going to give away 20% off or 15% off and you can do it
basically on a minimum purchase, so you can offer 15% off to everyone who order
$50 plus so if you really want to push that AOV and increase the AOV you can do
both offer the discount code on $50 plus and the free shipping so basically that
AOV will increase and you can play with your prices that’s a little evil thing
to do, you can play with your prices where they either buy like $49.99 they
get nothing or they buy like $75 so so that increases your AOV
tremendously and trust me people love discounts and they will do whatever they
can to get that discount, even if it will cost them more at the end and basically
the discount you can do it either on the entire order, as I was explaining right
now or you can do it on selected item so if you’re selling let’s say you’re
selling shirts and pants and blazers, you can offer the discount only on Blazers,
so it doesn’t matter how many shirts they buy the discount will not work they
will only work on Blazers, so if you have let’s say you want to push like,
you have a promotion with your supplier on Blazers and you really want to push
the Blazers, you basically set up a discount just for Blazers and obviously
you can use that as a lead magnet or a buyer magnet to your store, so they come
in and then you observe them on Shopify on whoever buys the Blazer, I guess they buy the whole thing, ask me about it and then
here, you can either put your discount to everyone which I would suggest to do or
you can put it to a group of customers, where you set up a group of customers in
your customer tab in here and basically you can give it, let’s say to your email
subscribers, so everyone who purchased from you before or subscribe to your
newsletter or amendment the card you can pretty much email them with the discount
code and it will not work for anyone who whose email is not on that list, so
that’s very important to pay attention to but honestly if you’re doing
discounts, unless you’re doing like some type of loyalty marketing campaign where,
hey this will only work for you if you’re a previous buyer, you can do that
in here, so I will just set it up by default in here and obviously we all
know that discounts get abused so you can limit the number of of times that
discount can be used or you can limit the use per customer, so pretty much if
you select the first option a discount will expire after 20 uses doesn’t matter,
if one person use it 20 times or 20 per hour like one person use 20 times or 20
persons use it one time each and the other way around is you can limit it to,
let’s say how many how many times per customer so limit like to one use per
customer, so when you give the discount, they can not share it with their friends,
they cannot share it with their family, it will track per user email, so if their
family like family member want to buy they will need to come and buy with
their email and not the user email and obviously, you want to activate it and
you want to pour an expired date to it, I would highly suggest you put an expiry
date to it, especially for the holidays promotion like Black Friday Cyber Monday
that made us a lot of money doing this, so you put and that creates a
real scarcity so people actually believe you when you tell them next time this
coupon code, because how it works the first time no one believes you, which is
an online thing when you give them a coupon code it will expire in four days,
everyone will think it will not expire in four days so when they come the
fourth day or the fifth day basically and the coupon code is not working, next
time you give them a coupon code they know it will expire kinda like an
Affiliate Asia here when they say the price of the ticket will go up, it
actually does go up, so that scarcity, please try to not use it use real
scarcity for the long term run, especially if you’re building a brand,
which you should be doing that will help tremendously with that so what’s the day
to day the six, the fifth, so let’s say that from the seventh day or let’s
say from the seventh till Monday in here, the 11th and that’s Black Friday Cyber
Monday and basically we save the discount, so we are giving 15% off to
everyone who comes to the store between Black Friday to Cyber Monday,
so Monday midnight is gone that discount will not work anymore, so let me set up
in here, let me go back to my product, come on, for some reason it took me to online, hmm
let me show you the navigation menu is something very beautiful that we
use in here, so the navigation menu now when you go to stores and there is like
home products collections, contact us and all that, basically we set all of that in here and it’s super easy to do, all what you have
to do is you add a menu and type in what you want to appear and link that to a
menu or page pretty much, so I will show you how to do that super fast, so I’m
going to add a menu item and let’s do Home Collection, so basically here what
I’m doing is I name it my home page so I’m gonna have a little tab on the on
the Shopify store that says home page, and basically it links to the home page,
if someone is like at the blog or any product, they can basically click on home
and go back to the home page, and let’s add another one for you don’t have for blogs we only have the new setup, so you’re
gonna take us to the news, so there we go and this is pretty much have you set up
your menu and you want to add like, different menus for whatever you’re
doing with your store, the menu is that the navigation menu that we always add
at home, contact us, collection, products those four, you really need to have them
on your store because basically, what you will realise is people who come,
specially through SEO or through your homepage, do convert more and you really
want them to find how to go to your product or collection page to actually
make that purchase, so you don’t want them to get lost and use the search
button and all of that, you want to guide them through also, in here you can set up
pages, there are three pages, three super important pages that you need to set up,
especially if you’re driving any type of paid advertising, they contact us, the
refund policy and the privacy policy, without those, if you’re running for
instance Facebook as your ads may get disapproved and your account may get
shut down, so please set up those pages before you do anything else, these are
the legal pages that you need on any web page on the planet that you’re driving
paid traffic to, and on Shopify is super easy to set up loose pages from
not mistaken is either under sitting or online store, basically its click of a
button it generates the whole thing for you, where did that go oh one more thing in here, and this is
has been a challenge for some people your currency, your store currency and
this is something that you need to pay attention to is in here, you can select
your currency so there are two types of currency in Shopify, that is the currency
that will show to the customer and the currency that the payment, that when your
customer pay to will be actually processed in, so for instance right now,
if I’m if I have it set up like this, it will show on in but because people will
come from Thailand but the payment will be processed in Canadian dollar, so
that’s super important for you so if you want to sell in US dollar and let’s say
you live outside the US, like in my case I live in Canada but my business one of
my businesses is registered in the US, I want to have the transaction set up in
the US currency so I don’t lose an exchange and all that basically I set it
up in here and US currency and it will show like two Canadian, in Canadian
dollar it will show someone in Europe in Euro etc, but also you need like to
set up to have a US currency, you need to have US bank account if you’re in Canada,
you need to have a Canadian bank account etc so that’s the legal deal
with that, other than that I think we went pretty much through everything in
here, do you want to add anything, I think that’s good maybe talk about
collections, you talked about collection sorry, yes I did load up, so as
you’re building your store, if you run into a hiccup or need additional help
as mentioned we actually have an entire customer service team and we call them
our gurus, so they’re called Shopify gurus and our service or customer
service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so we have gurus located all
over the world to serve as different time zones so no matter if you’re
located here in Thailand or in Australia North America, Europe, wherever you may be our customer support team is accessible through phone, email and live chat as
well in addition to that we have step-by-step documentation, so depending
on what style learner you are, if you want to see the step by steps on how to
do it or if you prefer someone to actually help you over the phone, or by
chat we have all those different options available to you and I love that chat,
basically you can open it in one window and do something else and talk with them
at the same time, it’s a lovely thing in the collection, I want to give
you a little hack about collection especially, when it comes to
marketing you really want to set up like collections of your best sellers and
drive traffic directly to that it will be one of probably one, it is for me one
of the most cheapest customer acquisition ever put all your best
sellers together create a collection for it and well let’s do that right now, assuming I have bestsellers so we’re
gonna name it bestseller and we write a description, election and I can manually select the
products or I can automatically choose the products to be added to that
collection, basically either on product title, product type, product tag as I told
you earlier deuce tags are useful for stuff like this and other apps as well
and pretty much, you have a variety of stuff that you can add that to so
product title, let’s say I want to add a product title that contains the word
dog, let’s see if I have any of that not sure if it will pick it up, if I set up
my titles with dog on it or not there we go, I picked all my dog products,
so now all these products will appear in the best-seller collection and you can
also upload an image in here to the your bestseller collection, so you can create
a little banner and upload it as bestseller, other than that you can
always for SEO modify your your meta tags, your description, your title and all
that and collections do get picked up very quickly by google crawlers and
robots, so make sure to not ignore this part please and fill it up and yeah,
so that’s the collection and here you can go back basically to your navigation
menu and set up bestsellers and link it to this page, so I would show you how to
do that super quick I’m not sure why it keeps on taking me to this page, you know what, no you had a online store
navigation actually, its huh here the mouse was stuck, the beauty what does that go here we go,
here we go all right menu, so let’s go to the main menu and I will add it in there
add menu would we name it bestseller and here it is boom, done so now my best
seller should appear on my online store all right, okay, let me see here so basically, today
what we want to go through is how to set up your store, so let’s wrap up with that
and take questions if you guys have any take it can we switch back to the other

to speed up your website? Cloud? No, Shopify – pretty much everything is
hosted within Shopify so you don’t have to worry about any of that, and the load
time like on my websites are between three, two to four seconds so basically,
there are a couple of ways to increase your load time, number one is your theme
number two, your images you need like to go through them is optimisation what
else do we do and our themes, it’s mainly the theme to be honest with you, and the
images we don’t we try to not host all the heavy files on the product page, like
there are themes, where you can upload a video of the product and it hosts and
Shopify and that basically takes time to load other, than that all good you can
come see me later, I can show you like the theme that we use and all that I
have no problem, no problem My question is
can I set up analytics, Facebook pixels, postback pixels from volume etc.
Yes sir fantastic question, so in your settings there is an area for you to input your
Google Analytics account, so everyone’s homework, I’m sure you all will have
Google Analytics accounts but if you don’t and you’re interested in setting
up an account or store your homework today is to go and also set up your
Google Analytics account for your future Shopify business, you take your Google
Analytics account and you’re going to pop it into the settings section of your
Shopify store and you’ve created it, if you already have, you’ve created the
integration if you already have a Facebook page for example, you can do the
exact same thing and have your Facebook pixel also integrated and it’s all done
within the settings section, so therefore for all of your tracking your
optimisation of campaigns it’s all synced directly to Shopify.
So can I also set up events for every step of the order, so let’s say the view tag, the
order tag. Okay absolutely you can set up like the view content, add to cart,
purchase, add to collection, all the tags you can either do it with Shopify native
integration or you can use third-party apps that we will talk about tomorrow
and we tomorrow is the Facebook day, pretty much okay, talk about how to
market your Ads in Shopify so tomorrow is how to market, to get
yourself so that includes all the pixels, than other takes and all that but
definitely you can do or what you ask you can do it with Shopify. My second question is, is Aliexpress supplier being paid by myself or through the Shopify payment integration? It’s being paid by yourself, so Shopify
basically takes you know, what your customer pays you, that comes back to you
minus the fees, just the fees of the merchant account, like your Shopify fee
monthly, that will not be taken from your payout, so you get your payout and then
basically you pay your supplier on your own, that’s your responsibility. Okay
thank you very much. No problem. I would like to ask what is the most
effective way in the testing phase, while the person is looking for the winning
product or or the niche, is it possible that when accounts can have multiple
stores so is it possible – is it possible to have multiple stores
associated with one accounts, like let’s say that’s I don’t know exactly what is
the niche that I will invest the marketing mm-hmm, the bulk of the cats or
the fashion, so how you guys handle that? So are you talking like multiple
stores within one Shopify account right? So it Shopify account, you can only open
one store but what you can do is have different collection within your store,
that’s in our internet marketing industry we call that a general store, so
basically we have different niches or different markets within the same store,
and then based multiple stores perhaps you want to have multiple currencies,
like it’s important to you to settle in Canadian dollars, settle in Euros, settle
in Thai Baht, for example you would have to have separate stores, obviously that’s
a bit of a pain so in order to get rid of that you can install a currency
switcher app from our app store, where you can change the currency depending on
what you want to display ,or perhaps you want to geo target different customers,
the only thing with that is that the currency will settle in whatever you’ve
set up in your settings, so it just depends on who your customers are and
what they prefer, like are they expecting for a currency to settle in a different
country or currency for example, so I know our good friends in the United
States, they like that their currency settles in the in the US, in the US
dollar for Canadians, we’re used to buying internationally, so we don’t mind
we buy a lot from the state, so it doesn’t matter if a currency might you
know, be charged in US Dollars and then have to convert back to two Canadian
dollars, it really depends on your, so there are different ways to get
around that, so for example like Mo mentioned, if you’re looking to have
different site types of stores you could get around, that with collections you
could have different currencies in terms of a currency switcher or you might need
to actually have separate stores depending on what you want the currency
to settle in, does that answer your question, yes and when you have the
general school, how you can save and how you can use the marketing data that you
have, convicts in the testing phase so that’s, I can use it okay, so basically
we’re talking here a little bit about Facebook right, the data you can export
all your data from Shopify, so there are two types of data right you have the
data from Shopify your buyers list and all that you can export it from Shopify,
you can go to orders and export all orders or you can go to customers and
export all customers and that will all export, also one of the apps that you’ll
probably need to install and we’ll talk about this tomorrow, is an email app so
whether it’s yout active campaign Aweber, MailChimp as Carrie mentioned so
basically, once you have that app you can change the account of Shopify on that
app does that make sense but the email list stays, but the name will change and
obviously you want to start by letting your customer know that you change the
brand, thank you no problem, yep, there’s a question in the back there, I thank you for your tutorial and I
have a sweet questions, first is that You are talking about the product can’t sell. Can you sell service like a service like digital service on Shopify?
Absolutely, so if you’re looking to sell digital products perhaps you have ebooks or
other info products, we have people who sell their music, so they’re selling mp3
files, whatever it might be, it doesn’t have to be a physical product, you will
be representing the service or the digital product as a product on the back
end, as you saw, when you’re adding in your products, we also have a lot of
consultants who use Shopify to sell their time, so again not a physical
product but it’s something that their customer is buying from them, so even
though it might say a product, the product is up to you to define whether
that is a physical good, a digital good or perhaps a service, that’s an excellent
question okay,and I more than one Shopify stores
because they have mentioned quantities so absolutely, you can set up
multiple stores as the gentleman was asking before, when you have up to three
stores there’s actually a discount if you’re setting up multiple stores,
because you have multiple accounts but they will be separate stores, so some
products. You mean I need a different address? No, you can have the exact same
information that’s totally fine, but they would live as separate stores, so
separate logins, I hear to you mentioned we can set up a country limit,
so if I set up a talent customer on me, I have an idea of a what’s the benefit of
this kind of setup, because if I doing this, I’m probably want people from all
the world to buy my products – so what’s the proof, what sort of benefit of this kind
of setup, yeah absolutely, so it’s really where your business is living, so to be
able to set up different payment gateways, so for example if you wanted to
have let’s say utilise Shopify payments in the United States, you would need to
have a physical US address, a tax number and a bank account there in order to do
that, in order to sell in the United States, even though you might be located
in Thailand yourself, so there’s elements of that that would be benefits to you
depending on what you want, however if you’re based in in Thailand that doesn’t
mean that you just have to sell within Thailand, you can sell anywhere in the
world and as Mo was mentioning, when you’re setting up your settings in your
shipping category, you’re actually able to select and also deselect where you
might want to ship in the world, so perhaps you only want to focus in Asia,
or perhaps you only want to focus in the United States that’s totally fine, it’s
up to you to define and you to create your rules and processes for your own
business and so Shopify as a platform, allows you to define all of that and
basically, one of the benefits to limit as you ask to limit the country out of
the list is, let’s say I’m selling something within the US and shipping it,
like shipping from the US to the US or from China to the US with a packet is super cheap, but basically if you are shipping from the
u.s. let’s say to Thailand, it gets expensive so at the price that you’re
selling at, you may be at loss that’s why basically you want to limit
all the transaction, basically you don’t want to sell in Thailand because it’s
not benefit, it doesn’t benefit you, for your business. Thank you. No problem. Hello i’m Sophia from Morocco, so i have
a question about as a beginner, if i want to start my first store, should i start
it as a general or one product? So yeah that’s a great question um, so in my
experience from my friends and other merchants that i’ve seen start their
businesses, it’s usually more recommendable to start with a small
category or a small product category, catalog, sorry so whether that’s one, two,
five, maybe ten products but really the smaller you start, the easier it is to
market create campaigns, to test things to see what works at what it doesn’t, if
you start your store with like a thousand plus products that can be
really, really overwhelming to you as a new entrepreneur in the e-commerce realm
and perhaps even for your merchants too, especially as you’re building your brand,
so in my personal experience i don’t know if you would agree as well but i
would always recommend starting with a small catalog of products to test, see
what works and build your brand that way and then once you’ve sort of established
your brand, your store as well as your your preliminary customer base, then grow
yourself from there, well my experience is not definite from you it’s basically
what I do is, I start in one niche because one of the reasons you want to
do that is your all your marketing efforts and you will dive deep into that
niche, you don’t want to do that like across ten markets, like you don’t want
to do running and dogs and coffee and traveling and all that so you want to
choose one market and dive deep down into it and find suppliers within that
market and basically create a niche store is a lot easier to handle than a
general store, so I would rather create like different general, like different
niche stores than one general store and again, it comes down to the research part,
you save yourself a ton of time, okay, thank you very much, no problem, do we
have any more questions? Yes, you want sorry say that can
you hold a little bit closer. I would like to ask you how to handle the payment gateway nightmare. The payment gateway nightmare? For example for us, it is
Baltics, Baltic countries and we have only four payment gateways and only one
of them is direct payment in your website, on ours in direct payments, we
can choose the best payment gateways for example Shopify payments, yeah, so it’s a great question, so for the
payment gateways to first of all see what’s available in your country because
obviously there’s different options around the world and some countries have
more choice in terms of payment gateways than others, so that’s obviously
something that we realise and we’re obviously working every day towards to
expand for example, Shopify payments is powered by stripe and stripe is
constantly growing, so as stripe grows we will also grow as well, but what I
recommend is checking out what is available to your country, so you can
either go into Google and search Shopify payment gateways and then search your
country or you can actually search that directly within Shopify com and you’ll
actually see a list of all the payment gateways that are available to you, so
there might be others that you don’t know yet or perhaps you’ve already
researched this and you’re trying to figure out what the best option is from
there, if you’re not overly enthused about looks there and what your options
are, there are ways to get around that so either trying to utilize a payment
gateway that is in a closed by country so maybe there’s something else within
the EU for example that you can take advantage of, or maybe you do have

different ways to get around that if you want to deep dive into payment gateways,
I definitely recommend chatting with our customer support team because they and I
know like the tip of the iceberg and they know like the whole iceberg and
they can recommend you different solutions on on how to get around that,
because obviously payments are one of the most important parts of your
store and we want to make sure that that’s as smooth as possible for you and
there is one thing one gate basically stripe they started accepting
international sellers, as stripe at last is called so just it’s called stripe.com/atlas and basically they set you up with everything that you
need and a lot of international Shopify sellers actually are starting to use it,
but you need to get approved for it that’s the challenging part so it’s for
startups mainly, thank you, no problem, good question do we
have any others you have another in there how to get inspired into profile for the
newbies, like how I can find the bests Shopify stores to see what is working?
well what is not like how to be inspired, what themes should I use? Great question,
so if you’re looking for success stories or you know examples of stores and how
they how they look, what kinds of things are they selling maybe you can kind of
research into the marketing campaigns that they’re doing, if you go to Shopify
comm under resources, you’ll see a section that says success stories and
it’s a very like in depth of section of a lot of our merchants that are featured
and you can search different niches, you can search different industries and
they’re really great examples of what their store looks like, see it links
obviously to their store but also tells their story so how they got started,
maybe what their challenges were what have been some of their most successful
products that they’ve been selling or marketing campaigns that they’ve been
running, so I would suggest looking there first to utilise that as a really great
resource, when you’re in the research phase and thinking about what kind of
story you might want to open, to see what others have done, maybe in your same

about the Shopify payments, so it’s only available in the USA and Canada, so
currently top five payments is available in Canada, the u.s., the UK, Australia and
New Zealand, we are working to expand that but currently, those are the
countries that it’s currently available in, with that said there are a multitude
of other payment gateways that you can utilise but there are benefits after
using Shopify payments, such as there’s no transaction fees, I mean is there any
payment gateway from Morocco, for example, yeah, you’ll be able to search that so if
you search into a Google search bar and say Shopify payment gateways, Morocco or actually go into Shopify comm and enter that into the search bar, you’ll actually
be able to see what’s available in your country, on top of my head that is to
check out and check out comm that except Morocco, so they should I have a company
to to use it mm-hmm in Morocco, yeah that’s Morocco part, not Shopify part,
