I’d like to present our cloud-based inventory management system, which integrates computer vision and AI. The overhead camera captures products being picked up off the shelf or returned in real-time. This information is sent to the cloud where an inventory system calculates product quantities. The system has no need for RFID tag information. It recognizes shapes, colors and other appearance attributes. The system enables the end-to-end optimization of supply chains from warehouse to retail outlet. Electronic paper labels are attached to the front of the shelf. The display of product identification and price on these displays can be updated by the cloud-based inventory application. Let’s change the displays from “Pelion water” to “ARM Water”. The update can be done even with a mobile device. By utilizing Mbed OS, an Operating System designed for IoT devices and Pelion Device Management service we can easily manage the remote electronic paper labels. The information shown on these electronic displays is securely managed and updated on the cloud. Pelion Data Management service has broader potential. Consider the example of a chain of retail outlets. Real-time data from the store shelf displays can be mashed up with headquarters’ CRM data and e-commerce site data. Based on the results, you can send different promotional contents to in-store digital signages, or you can get electronic product labels updated for dynamic pricing. In this way, Pelion can help drive sales optimization.
