Naver is a very popular search engine in South Korea, making it an essential channel if you want to run online advertising in the country. Opening an account on Naver is more complicated than doing so on Google, and you’ll need to provide a range of documents and information to do so. So, let’s go through what you’ll need one by one: One: Your website in Korean. That might sound obvious, but you shouldn’t advertise on Naver without your content being in the local language! While Naver does accept English websites, it would be a big mistake to go down this route, as you’d be guaranteed to see low conversion rates and poor performance. It’s possible to link your Naver PPC account to multiple domains, so if your business structure means that you have more than one website, that’s not a problem. Two: You’ll need to provide a copy of your business licence. If you’re located outside of South Korea, you should have been issued with an overseas business licence. South Korean entities should have a Korean business licence. Three: You’ll need to submit your business name, address, phone number and the name of your CEO or business owner. This name must match the one on your business licence. And finally: You’ll need to provide the information you want to be associated with your Naver account. This includes an email address (that you must have access to), the name and phone number of the person you want to be the campaign manager of the account, and what you want your password to be. If you’re an overseas business, all this can be sent in English. Once you’ve sent everything to Naver, you’ll receive an email from them containing the terms and conditions for opening an account, which you must reply to. Naver will then review your website to check its legitimacy and relevance to keywords. If you’re working with Webcertain, once Naver has approved your website, you’ll have to make a deposit through us to top up the account for the first time. If you have a credit card that is “Verified by VISA” or has “Master 3D Secure Code” then you’ll be able to top up the account yourself from the second month onwards.
