when you ask any random person to name three influencers, they will most likely say: 1. Kim Kardashian, 2. Kylie Jenner or 3. any other celebrity. Don’t get me wrong: they all have their awesome talents but honestly, I don’t believe that their number one job is being an influencer. They are celebrities. Their credibility was built offline and is now translated online. And this brings me to this. In my opinion there are two types of influencers: 1. the content creators and 2. livecasters. You might have heard about them before so let me go through them really quickly. Let’s kick off with a lifecaster. A livecaster is basically someone you follow because of the awesome lifestyle they have. You always wonder what they are up to, and what are going to do next. Usually people like actors, artists athletes or celebrities basing anyone who’s killing it out there is a livecaster. Then we have my favorite group of influencers. In my opinion the real influencers of the internet: the content creators. I’ve should have added some drums in there! Content creators have been around since the dawn of human culture. These creative people have to make content out of thin air. Instead of saying “hey this is me having breakfast” they actually try to add value to their following. Unlike a celebrity whose power is directly correlated to the amount of ears they have at their disposal. A content creator may prove hugely valuable to a brand despite having little prior engagement. Testing a content creators quality doesn’t concern audience size, because art doesn’t work like that. That said: it if you’re in business on yourself or maybe you’re a marketer for a company, you can start influencing your audience in a positive way. Don’t know where to start head over to Instagram’s own feed and watch their curated feed of content creators. When I don’t have any inspiration, I always head to their Instagram page and scroll through that feed. Don’t forget to give the captions a read. Trust me it’s way better now watching Kim Kardashian eating breakfast again.
