Ecommerce workshop – connecting Victorian
fashion and lifestyle businesses with global markets When you look at the ecommerce landscape in China it’s the biggest in the world. China
has passed US in 2014. About $287 billion is transacted in 2016. I’ve come here today
because I feel that probably ecommerce is one of the weakest links in my company. I
think it’s really important to keep on top of these things. And I feel that the Victorian
Government is great in terms of their initiative in giving opportunities to small businesses
like myself, so why not turn up and make the most of it. I think if the brands are willing
to do the hard work and get on the ground and understand a bit about the culture, then
there’s lots of opportunities with the Government to connect you with the right people. Government
does play a role to facilitate, to educate, to provide some opportunities and open some
doors, and bring the players together like Alibaba, people in the payment ecosystem,
people who can support businesses to build their brands. But it also does come down to
business too, engage with the market, to understand what the consumers are after. And constantly
engage with the market to build a sustainable business in China. [Trade Victoria Australia] [Speaker: Authorised by Victorian Government, 1 Treasury Place, Melbourne]
