ars mundi Establishes a Solid Ecommerce Presence with OSF Commerce

The company has been on the market – in the field of art – for 75 years now. It has been present on the Internet as an online platform for 19 years. ars mundi is traditionally an art shipper with the typical catalog business. The year 2000 saw the Internet become a part of the business, as the first art-relevant platform. We decided to take our website to the next level in 2013, and to make a complete change in technology. We moved to a new platform, it was called Demandware at that time, and entered into a partnership with OSF for support, further development, and website maintenance – a relationship that still stands strong to this day. OSF, at the time, helped us realize the replatforming to Demandware and launched other shops with us; among those, white label shops. Furthermore, we work with the client in a very special way, namely by means of a shared revenue model. The agreement includes a total of three points, namely, the translation of a total of 10,000 products from the German online shop into English, then 24/7 customer support and strategy and implementation of digital marketing activities. OSF pays for all these digital marketing activities because as part of the Shared Revenue Model, we obtain a commission from the revenue generated from sales on arsmundi.com. OSF is a competent technology partner with international expertise, and experience from diverse e-commerce platforms. In 2018, we were able to help the customer increase sales to a total of 12 percent; the total number of transactions went up by 24 percent. So, a particular strength that should be emphasized is the solution-oriented manner; solutions are always sought after, and alternatives and answers are also found. Communication between the teams is very good. ars mundi has always stood for the highest quality; on the art market this means having authentic products. ars mundi wants to continue being as well positioned as possible in the future, but also wants to stay number one in the art industry; this has already worked very well on the Internet. Beyond that, I think that we will also tackle the topic of internationalization now, together with OSF, and also hope to become a strong brand there, too.
