5 Things to Look for When Choosing a Web Designer | Two Minute Tuesdays

Hi, everybody! My name’s Matt, and I’m the
Social Media Manager here at Volusion. Welcome to Two Minute Tuesdays, where we give you
two minutes of ecommerce advice to bolster your online success. We all know that web design is really, really
important when it comes to conversion, but if you don’t have the coding ability or design
finesse, you might be looking for someone to help you out. If you’re beginning your
search, keep these five Cs in mind while you’re choosing the perfect web designer. The first C on our list is cost, and this
probably the most important to you. You’ll want to figure out exactly how much you’re
paying and how you’ll be paying for it. Are you paying for an entire website design? Or
are you paying for pieces of that design? And, of course, always remember what’s within
your budget, and even more importantly, that you always get what you pay for. Sometimes
the cheapest alternative may not be the best bang for your buck in the long term. Secondly, you’ll want to take a look at the
communication process that you’ll have between you and your designer. In other words, do
they prefer to communicate over email? Will you have weekly phone calls? Will you be dealing
with an account manager? And what is the revision process like? Get these aspects figured out
ahead of time, that way you know what to expect when it comes to talking to your designer. C number three: Take a look at client examples
from your designer. You’ll definitely want to take a look at similar websites that are
related to your industry, just to get a feel for what they can do, and use that for inspiration
for your own project. Number four on our list, figure out how comfortable
your designer is with your ecommerce platform. Regardless of the platform you’re using, you
want to make sure that your designer has experience designing for it. That way, whenever the design
is implemented, everything works as intended and you don’t have to worry about functionality. And last, but not least, number five on our
list is credibility. It’s really tempting, and honestly really easy, for you to go on
a Craiglist or just hire a college student to do the work for you, but you may get started
and never hear from him or her again. So go online, check out customer reviews, and most
importantly, go with your gut. If it feels right, they’re probably the best designer
for your online business. Remember these five Cs when you’re going through
on the search for your web designer. If you have any questions, just leave me a comment
in the box below and I’ll get right back to you. From me to you, happy selling!

  1. Past Work, Infrastructure, 1st Approach, Google price and planning and brand promotion are the most important aspects of it.

  2. More than the technical expertise, It is also necessary that one must be open minded to take decision by own. Otherwise, there is no benefit of having technical skills. So one need to be sure with clientele background.
