5 SHIPPING SECRETS Fedex, UPS & USPS Don’t Want You to Know!

5 SHIPPING SECRETS Fedex, UPS & USPS Don’t Want You to Know!

– Today, I’m gonna save you more money on holiday shipping than
anyone else in the country as I share these secrets and a freebee. (instrumental music) I’m gonna put these down though. Hi, I’m the YouTube deal guy Matt Granite. You guys know I’m here for you every day to save you more money than
anyone else in the country. And that I also give away more freebees than anyone else on YouTube. And this is actually one
of the most important rooms many of you have never seen. At the end of all of the unboxings and the tech reviews that you’re
used to seeing right here, I give away the items. And this is actually where
we ship those items from. I box them up, I send them
out at my own expense. I’m also giving away a free 50 dollar Amazon gift card today
at the end of the video. It’ll hopefully give one
of the many subscribers right now a break with their
holiday shipping expenses. And I wanna remind you that obviously USPS is not sponsoring
this video or paying me to talk about them. In fact, they’re probably not gonna be happy with the insight I share. But, my job is to save you money. Now I’ve spent a lot of time inside the UPS and the FedEx hubs. In fact, not too long ago, I got to watch many of the shipping practices employed to get your gifts moving. One big thing that we notice every year is a lot of people will take a FedEx box and then put a USPS shipping label on it or UPS just because you happen to have this box available. In most cases, that will result in your package not being delivered. Another thing which I guess is just something I see from a lot of people, not necessarily subscribers, is that every year, people will order the items from the store, in particular Amazon. You get it shipped to yourself
with your Prime membership. Then you box it up or you wrap it, and then you send it out again. One of the easiest things to do is pay the four dollars
to get it gift-wrapped. That’ll save you from having to send it out a second time, and then get it delivered to the recipient. For those of you traveling, take advantage of all of
my free shipping deals, and get those items
delivered to the recipient rather than taking them in
your car or on airplanes. That’ll save you a lot of frustration. USPS, the United States Postal Service, is way cheaper than sending
things via FedEx or UPS. But one of the big things to keep in mind is most of the deadlines that you are promised are not usually honored. And again, I love them. The very hard working men and women for this particular
company, and all shippers this time of year are heroes. Anything that says two
or three-day shipping really in most cases is four or five-day. It’s an estimate. A small box to send via
USPS is under ten bucks. Somewhere between six and nine dollars. And this small box which
folds as you can see, could accommodate one power bank which we’re actually
sending out to a winner. You could fit a few small things in here. But the box size that no
one seems to know about are a little bit less
utilized, is the cube box. This rate and this rate are
identical, under ten bucks. But you can fit so much
more inside this box. In fact, on the power bank example, I could fit probably
four or five power banks into this box, where the
other small box is one. So this is a small mailing
box, which is called a cube. Use this. This is great for sending
hats, a lot of other items which are awkwardly
shaped into a small box so you don’t have to pay a premium. This is a medium flat-rate
box and so is this. So depending on the object sizes, for this you’re looking at under 15 dollars to send something via two
to three-day priority mail with USPS. But keep in mind the boxes
are not created equal. And a lot of people will see this box and then pay the next
size, which is a large, when you don’t need to. And the large boxes are
even more confusing. On the large box, it’s also as deceptive, or confusing, as the medium box. And I used the word
deceptive, not that anyone is trying to play tricks on you. Or are they? But that it is a confusing
process where what you see is not always what you pay for. So this is the large box, and you can see what you could fit in here. Not much different than the medium box. But this is where things
get very interesting. This box costs somewhere between
18 and 25 dollars to send. So does this box. They’re flat-rate boxes. But what you can fit
in one versus the other is a completely different ballgame. So when you are either ordering your boxes from or going to a post office, make sure you know the difference between the large and the medium,
as well as the small. Cuz that can make or break the bank. Especially for us. I mean, I send out hundreds of items a month to you guys. Oh, and by the way, speaking
of sending things out, it’s now time for our giveaway. Using TubeBuddy’s random
Pick A Winner tool I will find a subscriber who’s commented in the last six months. Congratulations C4 Creations! I’m so honored to be
your favorite YouTuber. Yes, you’ve won, congratulations! And I’m not gonna dance because one of the number one
things from our survey, was people said they don’t wanna see dancing anymore which
is really upsetting. But we’re gonna respect your wishes, we’re gonna follow what
it was that you want. And a reminder, if you
are not yet subscribed to this channel, I give
everything I test away for free. So I’m going to pass it along now to one of my favorite
people with a quick way to make sure you get hooked
up this holiday season. Why are you so sad? – I’m sad because people
aren’t subscribed to you. And it’s so easy. All they have to do is click on your head right here to become
subscribed to your channel. And if they wanna see
another awesome deal, they have to click right up here. Sorry, this is like sad. I don’t wanna be sad. – [Matt] Hahaha! – And to turn on their

  1. i will give you the best free hint, never ever use fed-ex to ship to philippines, their customs people will flag it and charge you 10 dollars a day storage just because they know they can do it, they will make up total crap reason why they did it. they know you must then create a fed-ex account and pay the fee, and 100 dollars is if your lucky and catch it fast.

  2. I wouldn't really call these secrets, or things that are not really widely known. I thought you were going to talk about things like over-stuffing the package.

For example if your item can sort of fit inside the package but it's bulging slightly you don't have to go to the next size up. As long as all the tabs can go into their places and you don't have to have an excessive amount of tape to hold it together it's fine.

  3. Never ship FedEx. You never know if their plane will crash leaving your package on an island with the only survivor from the plane.

  4. BUT WAIT!! Who said you shouldn't dance??!! I happen to L-O-V-E seeing you dance! O M G!! I want to kick their asses! What friggin unsoulfull dorks! Do not listen to them,….ok…Im done. Luv your channel, and your personality! Happy Holidays to you and yours! Lil hugs xo

  5. My apt complex does not receive packages. They want us each to sign up with a package receiving company who has lockers in our mail room. USPS, UPS, FEDEX. etc delivers the package only to their locker,s I receive an email, and if I don't pick it up in three days. they will start charging me $3.00/day. They want me to register my credit card with them, so they can charge whenever they want. I am told USPS, UPS and FEDEX will only deliver to this company's lockers. I have a problem with their "privacy policy," too. It seems as if they will share quite a bit of my personal info with other entities over whom they have "no control." I feel like I'm being blackmailed or strong-armed.

  7. great video would of been a bit better to have seen it before I sent that package lol anyway thanks and will take advantage next shipping.

  8. You give great info 80% of the time but 2:39??? It goes by weight the more powerbanks you put in you'll be paying quadruple what you'd pay with that small box you're acting like it's the same thing it doesn't go by volume it goes by weight!!!!โœŒ๏ธ

  9. For her birthday on Jan. 27, I mailed w/USPS my adult niece a pearl necklace on Jan.11 from Charlotte, NC to Cary, NC, with estimated delivery of Mon, Jan.14…. it was never delivered and no one knows where it is. It was in a 7 x 9 package. Unbelievably disgusting, and I canโ€™t replace it It is a one-of-a-kind piece. I donโ€™t know why there so much incompetence and /or thievery.

  10. Hey thanks for the tips and tricks on Fedex service, rates and box sizes. Oh nevermind you didn't cover that. I must've read the title incorrectly!

    Nope. It's up there.

  11. As always Matt, great tips !
    If possible,
Please use your connections with Amazon to encourage them to make the Alexa system 911 compatible.
    Currently it is not !
It could easily be a life saver !

  12. Hi guy. Im looking to send my army friend a gift for his new baby. He is currently in colombia. What service do you recommend as far as price goes?

  13. New subscriber! I LOVE how you talk and make it fun! I watch a few eBay videos but I think YOU took the top spot ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. A box that often gets overlooked is the USPS board game box. Itโ€™s about the width of the rectangular medium flat rate, but almost twice as long. I believe the cost is about $18 to send. If you sell wholesale clothing lots on sites like eBay, you can stuff about 20 pieces inside. Works great for quilts and blankets too.

  15. None of those boxes are a deal. I'll teach you how to save.. Here it goes.. If you sell on Ebay order regional rate boxes from the post office, totally free to have them sent to you. Not many people even know they exist. When you go to print your label choose the regional rate box from the package list, either A or B depending on which you had to use. You will see it's usually way cheaper.

  16. Good video, but you should correct yourself on the large flat rate vs the large regional rate box. Not the same! Regional prices are based on zones 1 – 9. with different weight limits. I find the "National Zone Charts Matrix" very confusing. You are not able to list an estimated a price if buyer's destination is not known.

  17. Note: the large box example mentions the word Regional on the bigger one, so that one is likely limited in distance compared to the other. So if your sending to more remote destination (ie:Hawaii, Alsaka), might not be advised.

  18. A lot of this video isnโ€™t right. You canโ€™t compare a priority flat rate box to a regular flat rate box. Flat rate is one charge up to 70 pounds. Regular priority is charged per pound and/or location.
    Good energy explaining though!

  20. Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing to you to raise an issue about: Delivery

The issue that I have experienced was: I am currently living in Thailand, am disabled and bedridden, I purchased a Patient hoist in UK and needed it shipping here to Thailand, I am in desperate need of this as I say I cannot get out of bed etc etc without it, this item was due to be delivered today ( 10 April 2019) here in Thailand in just a few hours and I am at a loss to understand something? a message was sent to the sender ( my Niece in UK, Rebecca Harrison) last night at 10:17pm telling us about hazardous material, surely this was never going to be here on time – as promised – by today, surely this should have been noticed before when collected, although my niece was asked about being a lithium rechargeable battery which it is and should be ok? I am in desperate need of this item and very very anxious now I have heard this as I was expecting to be able to get out of bed with more ease today? tracking number 1ZT0G78ZD920004819 I am wondering what I can do as we paid for express delivery and was told all was ok then the battery thing came up, sounds like an excuse to me for something, either way it is not going to be here today as promised and paid for? UPDATE; now 11th April and still its in UK although the battery issue was resolved and we were told as I am disabled it would be given urgent attention but still its in UK and the sender has not been told why?

    It occurred on: 8/04/2019

This meant that I am disabled with a muscle wasting disease and bedridden, I need the patient hoist to get from my bed to my wheelchair and commode and back to bed etc, no one knows the frustration of this who has not experienced it?

    Get it here………..

I look forward to your prompt response on this matter. As recommended by Trading Standards, I would like to keep a complete record of my case, so please reply back via this email account.

  21. Thanks for the vid, Deal Guy !
Can you answer a question re: Shipping items from the UK to the USA ? If so, let me know the best way to contact you (email, facebook, etc). Thanks again. David

  22. I have a question. Iโ€™m hoping someone reading through the comments can answer it. Say Iโ€™m shipping something through priority mail, and I use a regular priority mail box, can I crumple up and use a few priority mail tyvek envelopes as packing material to fill the empty spaces? Also, say I am again using a priority mail box, to ship priority mail, can I use the padded flat rate envelope to protect items inside? Can I get in trouble for doing this? Iโ€™m other words, would this be considered a criminal offense resulting in a misdemeanor charge etc? I mean I know not to use priority mail if Iโ€™m not shipping through priority mail, but I mean, in this case, I am shipping through priority mail, so why not make the free supplies useful?

  23. so the large box is flat rate and the other is regional both cost the same if im getting this right plz tell me 3:40

  24. I have a question. I just started an online boutique. I want to use the pretty poly mailers with a shipping label but I don't know how to do the whole shipping label thing:(

  25. 3:51 The bigger box is a Priority Regional Box not a Flat rate Box. The prices are charged based on regions for the regional box.

  26. When you go into the US PS store. The staff will actually help you select the appropriate box for the item or items you are shipping

  27. Can you return iteams to ups if itโ€™s a usps package? Because I did that and Iโ€™m scared I may have gotten robbed for $100

  28. I ship almost everything (3 to 4 pounds) via regional A and it costs me $7 to $10. Except to CA, WA, TX, AR (I'm in NY), for those, I use "flat rate medium" for $12.80+. You get low rates by using commercial plus pricing. and you can get that by using a hub like shipstation, etc.
